Trivia:
George Lucas was positive that the movie would flop. So much so that instead of attending the premiere, he went on vacation to Hawaii with Steven Spielberg, where they came up with the idea for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).

On the first day of filming in the deserts of Tunisia, the country had experienced its first major rainstorm in 50 years.

This was the first movie to make over $300 million.

The comical moment when Chewbacca frightens a skittish mouse droid was unscripted and thought up on set.
