"Skyscraper" is the second collaboration between Dwayne Johnson and Rawson Marshall Thurber.
Rawson Marshall Thurber's proposal for the skyscraper was to use possibilities in current designs despite being entirely fictional.
"Skyscraper" marks the first non-comedy of Thurber's career, it is also his second collaboration with Johnson following Central Intelligence.
