Amitabh Bachchan was dating Jaya and used to be a regular visitor on the sets, since he didn't have much work at the time. Manoj Kumar befriended Amitabh and promised him a role in his next film Roti Kapda Makaan. He saw a certain spark in Amitabh and knew he had potential.
