This soulful, contemporary romantic drama depicts the struggles and challenges in the life of Sabah, a 40-year-old single immigrant from Syria living in Toronto with her family. In the conservative and strictly patriarchal Muslim family, she is responsible for her mother's well-being. Since her father's death, her brother Majid has been the family authority figure. Majid is stuck in the role of the traditional, all-powerful male who must make all the important decisions and one for the entire family. Sabah is keen on being out in the world and begins swimming despite opposition from Majid. At the city swimming pool, she happens to meet Stephen, a non-Muslim Canadian and slowly they fall in love. How will Majid and her family react to Sabah's choices? Will Majid ever recognise the inevitability of change and exhibit the willingness to adapt to changing times?
