Miscellaneous
Most crucifixes show Christ's hands pierced by the nails at the palms. The movie shows his arms pierced just above the wrists. Also those who have received the "stigmata" such as St. Francis of Assisi also show the wounds at the palms

Factual Mistake
While the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ , the soldier told Clavius that Jesus died only in 6 hours actually in their time they had sand glass clocks but not measured in hours

Factual Mistake
Romans never finished off crucifixion victims by spearing them this way, and canonically, the New Testament indicates Jesus had already been dead for a while and the soldier was merely checking to make sure he had indeed died, not killing him

Factual Mistake
Mary Magdalene is portrayed as a prostitute possibly still active in her profession and is arrested for questioning in the investigation as she's entering a tavern known to be a place for soliciting potential customers

Factual Mistake
While the Shroud of Turin may or may not contain the bloody imprint of Jesus' face, operating under the assumption that it does, the reproduction of this imprint on the burial linen ought to contain the positive image rather than the photo negative from which numerous illustrators derive what they believe to be the appearance of Jesus' face

Character Error
Clavius surprised by an approaching figure in the dark lashes out with his sword giving Peter a superficial cut on his right shin. Peter acts very pagan screaming at Clavius, not exactly in keeping with the portrait of a repentant and contrite Peter who is growing into a holy man and leader of men

Miscellaneous
Clavius and other Roman soldiers on horseback are shown having saddles with stirrups. Stirrups were not invented until well over 50 years later
Trivia:
Joseph Fiennes' brother, Ralph Fiennes, also played "Jesus Christ" in the claymation childrens' film "Miracle Maker"

Tom Felton plays a character named Lucius. This was also the name of his character's father in the Harry Potter franchise.

In 2013, Kevin Reynolds was set as a director for the planned project The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, a mystery thriller film and an unofficial sequel to The Passion of the Christ (2004) set to depict the events surrounding the 40 days following Christ's resurrection in a script written by Paul Aiello.

Tom Felton has worked with Joseph Fiennes' brother, Ralph Fiennes, in the Harry Potter films.
