Set in the period when India was ruled by the British, this dramatic tale follows the family of Raja Bhupathi, the king of an Indian province, who is knighted for his services to the British. His eldest son, Peddha Babu, obediently follows all his father's orders. When his second son chooses to marry against his father's wishes, for the sake of love, Raja Bhupathi has him murdered.
Just to ensure that his only grandson does not ever develop the courage to go against his wishes, Raja Bhupathi keeps him locked up and has privately tutored. Chinna Babu is deeply interested in music, and falls in love with Madura, a beautiful dancer.
Chinna Babu and Madura wish to get married, but this decision is rejected as they don't belong to the same socio-economic strata and no person of royal lineage would be permitted to marry a dancer, who belongs to a disreputable family. Now, Peddha Babu has an important decision to make – will he choose to follow his father's orders and risk losing his son or will he go against him and risk facing his wrath? What will Peddha Babu decide? Will the true love of Chinna Babu and Madura give them the strength to stay united against all odds?
