Embedded with social relevance and family sentiment, this satirical drama depicts the special bond between father and son, through the twists and turns in the life of Unni, a talented young man and Panicker, his father who is a strict and straightforward government official. Panicker (Madhu) is an honest Public Works Department engineer who assiduously resists offers of bribes from an assortment of local building contractors. Panicker's one ambition is to see his son, Unni (Mammootty) succeed in medical school. When Unni succeeds in gaining admission into medical school, his father is exceedingly proud. Unni is in love with Parvathi (Poornima Jayaram), a relationship that is approved of by their parents. After Unni joins medical college, there is a drastic change in his lifestyle. Getting into bad company consisting of the spoiled offspring of exceedingly wealthy families, Unni turns alcohol, drugs, pornography and stops attending his classes. Raghu (Mohanlal), the son of Padnanabhan Pillai (Adoor Bhasi), a corrupt contractor, their leader manipulates Unni in every way possible. Unni starts taking bribes on his father's behalf and even ends up stealing money from his own house. In the process, he alienates his father and gets thrown out of home, leaving his mother (Srividya) and cousin/girlfriend (Poornima) torn between the two men. Unni and his friends set up a 'house of sin' right behind the college and continue their indulgent and immoral ways. Can Parvathi's true love ignite Unni's conscience? Will he understand the value of his father's integrity, realise the error of his ways and restore ties with his father, before it is too late?
