Louis Creed is a doctor from Boston, Massachusetts who moves to the small town of Ludlow, Maine with his wife Rachel, their two young children, Ellie and Gage, and Ellie's cat, Church. After relocating, Louis discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family's new home. He also learns about its dark secret from their unusual neighbor Jud Crandall. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to Jud for help, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.
