Gauri is the leader of a woman's group and is against a member named Lali who promotes reckless independence and has already influenced Kala and Sundari much to unhappiness of their husbands and dad Dhanprasad. Gauri meets Dhanprasad's nephew Amar and both fall in love and get married. Due to an accident Amar looses his leg and gets crippled while Gauri is to be the breadwinner of the family. Gauri gets friendly with a man named Gupta at work. Amar suspects gauri's association with gupta. While Lali leads Sundari and Kala to more reckless independence. Amar's suspicion of Gauri leads to their marriage going through a rough patch.
