Pallavi Anupallavi (1983)

Sensual and suave, this bold tale depicts the complex social norms surrounding romantic love, and the immense pressures that people are forced to face, if they enter a relationship that is not socially approved of. This mature drama revolves around the life of Vijay, a handsome young man who has pledged his love for Madhu (Kiran Vairale). However, things get complicated when Vijay (Anil Kapoor) finds himself entwined in a close friendship with Anu (Lakshmi), a married woman separated from her husband. Vijay grapples with the definition of love, treading the fine line between trust and fidelity, lust, attraction and love, amidst tremendous societal pressures. He is confused whether he loves Anu, an older woman, yet knows that Madhu is ready to accept him as a husband.
