Embedded with action and adventure, this thrilling period saga centres around Prince Udayan (Prem Nazir), a brave and handsome prince, who is the younger nephew of a king, The Raja of Kolathiri (Thikkurisi Sukumaran Nair), a prosperous ruler of Northern Kerala. The Raja is very fond of the young prince and not only appoints him the successor to his throne, but also agrees to get him married to his daughter, Princess Parvathi. The elder nephew, Devan (Madhu) is secretly in love with Princess Parvathi and is heartbroken when her wedding is fixed with his younger brother. Making use of Devan's sense of being overtaken by his brother, a group of noblemen who wish to usurp the throne goad him and assist him in conspiring against Udayan. They plot to frame Udayan for a crime he did not commit, take over control of the throne, and to get Udayan sentenced to life as a slave after labelling him a traitor. Will they succeed in their mission? How will Udayan deal with the shocking turn of events in his life? Will he succeed in escaping a life of slavery and return home to avenge his enemies and claim his rightful place as king?
