Where did you watch this movie?

Echoing the old 'Nayika Sangbad (1967)' this film also follows the story of a heroine who goes missing. But that's where the similarity ends. Diya Chatterjee is a leading Bengali actress. Young, stunning and ambitious. One who lacks inhibitions. One day she goes missing. An incident that's largely hush hush, but for an over-enthusiastic reporter Nikhil who is tipped off by a friendly police inspector. Together they mount a search. Nikhil starts tying all the loose ends and in the process uncovers the various characters who were close to Diya. He comes across Bijit, a super star of Bengali cinema. A hero whose ego is larger than his heroic deeds, a serial womaniser, and a plotter par excellence. Nikhil comes to know that it was Bijit with whom Diya was in a tumultuous affair. He also meets Anuradha, the reigning star of Bengali filmdom, with whom Diya was in a constant battle for supremacy. Nikhil then meets a politician, a conniving editor, a shrewd producer and a host of other characters, all of whom help him understand Diya more. His journey exposes us to the cobweb of human emotions and sentiments, makes us understand the murky deals of the glamour world. It also sheds light on the darkness that is a constant factor in the world of glitz. Nayika Sangbad is the story of an actress, who reaches the pinnacle of her career, shedding her inhibitions and morals, along the way. A story of lust, greed, blind ambition, seething anger, and above all, power.
