Lokesh works as a salesman in a garments shop, although he's actually the owner. His wife Sumitra, is a spendthrift, who lives in a lavish lifestyle, and spends most of her time in cinema theatres. When Lokesh finds his daughter Swapna, struggling with hunger outside the home, while Sumitra enjoys herself at the movies, late into the night, he takes aggressive action to bring her back. As a result, Swati, Lokesh's beloved younger sister is abused and beaten by Sumitra's brother, who is Swati's husband.
Swapna a powerful officer in a bank. She finds Lokesh working as a tailor oon the streets and identifies his tremendous talent. She helps him grow into a prosperous businessman. Swapna would like to marry Lokesh. However, when Swati becomes involved with Sumitra's brother, Lokesh is forced to marry her in exchange for her brother's marriage with Swati.
Lokesh names his daughter Swapna as a result of his admiration and respect for the bank officer. The adult Swapna moves into the house opposite to that in which Lokesh and Sumitra reside. She begins caring for Lokesh's daughter and slowly learns the whole truth about Lokesh's hellish family life.
Sumitra becomes jealous of Swapna and spreads rumours that Swapna is having an affair with her husband. Swapna decides to teach Sumitra a lesson. Will she succeed in forcing Sumitra to realise the error of her ways and repent?
