This is Kenneth Branagh's second feature to be shot on 65mm film.

The original Orient Express route was from Paris to Giurgiu (Romania).

The character positioning in the opening shot of the scene with all the suspects sitting at a long table mimics the exact positions of the figures in DaVinci's painting "The Last Supper."

Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron were initially approached to play the role of Mrs. Hubbard before finalizing Michelle Pfeiffer to play the role.
