Have you ever heard of someone getting convicted for raping a Buffalo???….well it did really happen in some part of Rajasthan, which had inspired this director and re-created this story based in Haryana. There’s an anonymous quote which goes like this “In a place where people worship animals, Anything is possible”. Director Vinod Kapri took that as a point and scripted this film in a very interesting way.

The movie throws light on many things at once, there are so many issues to be addressed at rural part of our country, which is being totally ignored and our care takers are busy flying around. The technology has developed, we have the brightest minds in our country which are being exported to fill someone else’s pocket, still we are one among the developing countries rather being a developed one. When you see things like this still exists and our judicial system supports these kind of nonsense, we can’t do nothing but feel ashamed. In our country “Female” race is not respected even if it happens to be an animal. The male take it for granted and throw her around as they wish. Every part of the system has been showcased in such a way that it seemed naked, still not ashamed of it.

The actors make a great effort to make this movie a success, the lead actors were Annu Kapoor and Om Puri who did their roles as a politician and a policemen with utmost perfection. They were damn hilarious. The main lead Rahul Bagga, who is convicted with the rape of a buffalo did a good job too, which was supported well by Hrishita Bhatt. She was seen on Bollywood territory after a long gap. Ravi Kishan added that extra spice to this comedy with his comical performance as a thick headed village goon. The rest of the cast form a great ensemble along with the star attraction “Miss Tanakpur – Buffalo”.

The journey goes on a rollicking ride with loads of laugh, the comedy has a silver lining of double meaning, which cracks you at the very brink of it. All the laughs come to an end with thought provoking questions which arises during the course of the trial. The dialogues were cautiously written with a thin line between obscene and decent. At every node you’ll have a question which will have you in knots.

The cinematography was good which was edited at a good pace, keeping you glued to the screen. The music had hardly anything to do with a subject of this type, the background score was great.

This movie has got a lot of attention up north and have also been asked not to screen at few parts, due to the subject it handles.

Vinod Kapri taught one or two about film-making with his effortless style of narration, which brings you at the crossroad of “Entertainment” & “Reality“. A beautifully scripted movie which should not be missed by any film buff or a regular audience, don’t ignore this because it does not have the star value. Please watch this one for it’s TRUE GRIT which spells SHAME in bold letters. As the classic saying goes “It happens only in India”.
