In 1609 AD, Mitravinda, a princess, and Kala Bhairava, the warrior that she loved, die. 400 years later, the warrior is reincarnated as Harsha, a motorcycle stuntman. He brushes hands with a girl and sparks fly as he begins to recall his past life. Knowing that he is destined to love this young woman, he sets about trying to identify her. Indu does not remember her past life and keeps Harsha at a distance; playing tricks on him until she gets to know him better. However, just as the two begin to fall in love, a sinister force from their shared past returns!

The music of the movie was launched on 28 June, 2009 at Shilpakala Vedika by Ram Charan's father, film actor Chiranjeevi.

It was a phenomenal success at the box office, and has completed 730 days at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh breaking the 500 days record set by 'Pokiri'. To signify the achievement, the producers organised celebrations at Kurnool. The film has crossed huge milestone by completing a successful 1001 days run on 26 April 2012.

The movie received overwhelmingly positive reviews from audiences as well as critics, and the performances of all the lead actors was appreciated. The chiselled and macho look of Ram Charan Teja, along with his horse riding and dancing skills is set to have perfectly suited the warrior-look required for the movie.

This movie was released on 31 July 2009 with 500 prints in 1250 screens across the globe, the biggest ever for a Telugu film.

The first song of the film, "Bangaru Kodi Petta", was filmed at the Chennai Port. The song "Nakosam Nuvvu" was shot in Switzerland. "Panchadara Bomma Bomma" was shot at Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad.

90% of the film was shot at Gujarat, Rajasthan, Rann of Kutch, and Badami in Karnataka. Other scenes were filmed at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India.

The film was dubbed and released in Malayalam as 'Dheera-The Warrior' and in Tamil as 'Maveeran'.

Lead actor Ram Charan is the son of Chiranjeevi, who makes a cameo appearance in the song "Bangaru Kodipetta".

The film was the highest grossing Telugu movie at the time of its release.
