Arjun (Arya), a London-based disc jockey, leads a happy life. Anu (Shriya Saran) has just completed her MBA in a London university. One day, Arjun is forced to return to his hometown, Karaikudi, to ensure that his ancestral property is not sold. Meanwhile, Anu also returns home to Madurai to meet her father who is injured in an accident. The two of them meet on a train. Arjun's father's journal pops out of his bag on the train, and as he reads it - he realizes that his father had once loved someone. The story goes - Sekar (Arya) returns to his village after passing his Police Academy examinations. Back home, he falls in love with Meena (Preetika Rao). Sekar's family does not approve when they find out about his relationship and so Sekar leaves home to be trained as an officer. At the academy he meets Ammaiyappan (Anoop Kumar.) He finds out that Ammaiyappan also was in love and decides to help him be with the woman of his dreams, leading to the discovery that she was the same girl, Meena. Back on the train, Arjun and Anu after crossing several hurdles in their journey reach their respective houses. After being separated, they realize they had fallen in love with each other along the way. When Anu's father Ammaiyappan realizes that Anu was in love with Sekar's son he immediately immediately vouches to bring them together.
