Kelkatha Shabdam (1982)

Embedded with quirky comedy and charged emotion, this fast-paced relationship drama delves into the twists and turns in the life of two good friends, Devan and Babu. Devan is straightforward and conscientious, but Babu is only interested in indulging in sensory pleasure. Babu's goal in life is to sleep with at least hundred women. With Devan's help, Babu pays a pimp to find him a woman with no sexual experience. Despite the young woman's pathetic plea for mercy Babu rapes her in a state of alcohol intoxication, causing her to commit suicide.

Devan holds Babu responsible for the death, but Babu is totally without remorse. He immediately gets into a love affair with Jayanthi, an innocent and trusting young woman. Despite her mother's warnings for caution Jayanthi becomes intimate with Babu, who betrays her right before the marriage. How will Jayanthi's future unfold?

Devan marries Poornima, but he is unable to get over his guilt and remains haunted by the memories of the unknown woman's suicide. How will the friendship between Devan and Babu pan out?
