Kalyana Sowgandhikam (1996)

This comedy of errors follows the fluctuating fortunes in the life of Jayadeva Sharma, who hails from an aristocratic Brahmin family. However his family's fortunes have long since dwindled and he is fostered by a goldsmith. Eventually he is betrayed by Ananthapadmanabhan, a man who he thinks is Athira's boyfriend. To get his money back, he dons the disguise of a sage with the help of his friends Premadasan. He also succeeds in gaining entry into the house of Athira's grandfather, Kunnamanagalam Neelakantan Vaidyar as a guest. Jayadevan's and Athira's friendship blooms after he saves her from Balagopalan, a covetous cousin of hers. Will Jayadevan succeed in exacting revenge upon the deceptive Ananthapadmanabhan and unite in love and marriage with Athira?
