Fast-paced and fiery, this multi-layered social drama revolves around Sathyam (Mohanlal), a fearless and forthright man whose brother, Shiva (Rahman) helps him set up a large automobile service centre in the city of Hyderabad.
When Sathyam's friend, a sincere, working-class man loses his daughter, who is a college student in a road accident, Sathyam tries to help him. In the process he learns that the girl was raped and murdered by the goons of powerful people. Sathyam becomes a vigilante executioner and eliminates the goons, but avoids criminal prosecution by staging them as accidents.
Over a period of time, Janata Garage, Sathyam's workshop becomes an alternate court, where a group of citizens led by Sathyam execute justice on their own terms. They eliminate criminals and ensure that the law is enforced without needing to struggle within a corrupt system and Janata Garage develops a special reputation of trust and respect amongst the people.
Shiva gets married to a Mumbai-based guy Suresh's (Suresh) sister, and they have a son Anand. One day Mukesh (Sachin Khedekar), a powerful business magnate with lot of criminal dealings and who was also the brother of a goon who was killed by Sathyam, visits and warns him. A few days later, Shiva and his wife get ambushed by Mukesh's men, and both are killed. Sathyam, fearing for Anand's safety, asks Suresh to take him away from Janatha Garage.
Decades later, Sathyam recruits Anand, who is now a fierce environmental activist. Without knowing that they are uncle and nephew, the two bond with each other as they think alike. Janata Garage has become almost inactive as Sathyam and his allies grow older and Sathyam invites Anand to take over. How will this dynamic duo fight the enemies of justice? How will their relationship evolve?
