Brij mohan is unhappily married to Kalyani and when he learns about her relationship with his boss, he tries to jump from the train and into the river. Mohan gets saved by Mohini, gets treated and eventually falls in love with her and gets married. He lives under the assumed name of Pratap Sahni and they have a son named Rahul. Rahul becomes a police inspector and Mohini's childhood friend Inder, an IG officer. Kalyani learns about Mohan's existence and false name and tries to expose him, but when she learns that she will also get exposed, she commits suicide.
