Donga Ramudu (1955)

Ramu (Akkineni) and Lakshmi (Jamuna) are siblings. Ramu is forced by circumstance to habitually lie and steal. He does many things to make his family members happy, including stealing medicine for his mother. He is caught for theft and sent to prison. His beloved sisters are sent to live in an orphanage, after his mother passes away.

Ramu is released from prison as an adult and understands the plight of his family. He saves the life of a wealthy man, Veerabhadraiah's (Relangi) son from criminals and consequently finds employment with them. When the criminal tries to destroy the life of Seeta (Savitri), a vegetable vendor, Ramu becomes her saviour.

Later on, he learns the identity of his sister and tries to help her by entering her house as a wealthy man. He steals money from Veerabhadraiah and ends up getting caught once more. When circumstances place Ramu in such a situation that he is suspected of other crimes as well, it is up to Seeta to come to his rescue. Will she succeed in exposing the true culprit?
