Classical Style Thriller that doesn't let go of you till the last frame

Just watched "Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru" today at PVR Cinemas Forum Mall Bangalore. Amazing debut film by Karthick Naren and kudos to him and his crew for a flawless execution of such a complex story. The writing itself is very strong and it shows on screen. It's very rare that a film can be engrossing throughout its length, that's why this film is special.

Rahman gives a performance of a lifetime as "Inspector Deepak". An understated and calculated performance with great control over his dialogue and body language. It's difficult to remember Rahman dominating a film like this maybe "Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal" which was a very very long time ago.

Cinematography and editing have added value to this thriller. They both supplement the complex screenplay. Non-linear editing by Sreejith Sarang needs to be commended especially the scene when they discuss about arranging the events in a chronological order. The camera work by Sujith Sarang has been very well planned as there are some scenes that have been shot from different angles...It was almost like deja vu. Sound design also is a silent contributor in maintaining the suspense till the last frame. The voice over by Rahman for the title sequence and last scene gave the film a good starting and finishing point.

Final verdict is that D-16 is an excellent film and it would be great for us to encourage such newcomers. Please watch this film if want to be entertained and thrilled at the same time...And as the catch phrase in the movie poster goes "Every Detail" does "Count"....
