Ajay gave a spooky face to the Urban Legend which will invoke many to explore the deserted colony a visit!!!

Horror seemed to be the flavor for sometime, we did get some decent ones on screen, but there was nothing to rave about. This genre is something which is as tough as comedy. Both need to be timed well, to scare you or to make you laugh. If this timing is achieved, voila you have got the hit formula in hand to conquer the audience. Ajay made sure that you feel the chills required to get spooked. Demonte Colony has got “Demon” in it’s name which is self explanatory how spooky it could get.

Ajay Gnanamuthu former assistant of AR Murugadoss spun a story which gets you webbed in. It’s a challenge to make a movie with minimal characters and limited to locations. The task becomes tough, where in you’ll have to make the audience engage with the story, and top of that if that story doesn’t have a female lead nor any songs or item numbers. When a story comes out in flying colors in spite of not using the cliched formula, then you get a “Demonte Colony”.

The characters played in the movie make a great deal in making this one a success. When I saw the trailer was under the impression that the role of Sananth Reddy must be skimpy one as the lead’s friend, but I was proved wrong, he has equal share of screen space as the lead. Sananth Reddy is a well know face in Short Film Industry, all his short films are of good quality work. This marks his debut on big screen, and he did not let it go for waste. His character is the pivotal one in the story and gets registered in everyone’s mind. Sananth got a meaty role to showcase his talent, which he made good use of it and gave a commendable performance.

Arulnithi, since he has stepped foot in the industry have been doing films which defines character roles, never he did a big budget film spelling MASS. He’s been appreciated right from beginning and I’m sure he will continue to do the same. Actors like Arulnithi change your perception that regardless of their family background, they can still pull themselves together for recognition without their family’s shadow. He steered himself well to success and will be looking forward for his movies, as he’s got what a potential lead requires to conquer audience.

Ramesh did a great job as usual with his impeccable comedy timing, which was well supported by Abishek Joseph George, whose character was asleep for most of the time, but makes a strong presence during the climax.

The technical team should be given a great applause, a movie of this genre always requires a great team to support and Demonte colony had great skills at work. The sound was ground breaking, every time Demonte pound his rifle, it hits you hard, a slightest creak or a tingle travels at a low frequency making it sound so lively.

The cinematography by Aravind Singh was intense, he played with the camera up close giving a naked eye perception. The lens work was so detailed that it makes you forget that you are watching a film. His camera work was well supported by Bhuvan Srinivasan’s editing who kept the movie short and crisp. The score by Keba was a highlight, which intensified the mood with it’s strong and impactful background score.

Ajay did a brilliant job in bringing together a team which dished out a movie of this calibre in short span of time. He proved that a good story can still hold the audience’s undivided attention. Last I remember a horror movie which held everyone’s attention together was Karthik Subbaraj’s “PIZZA”.

Ajay gave a spooky face to the Urban Legend which will invoke many to explore the deserted colony a visit.

Demonte Colony is a well engineered horror-thriller which infuses both the genres well, keeping the audiences guessing till the end. It is so intriguing that you forget to munch your popcorn or sip on to that cold cola. It is one of those films which gives you a chill that travels slowly through your skin and turns in to goosebumps leaving you spooked. This one has to be enjoyed on big screen with spectacular sound.

What are you waiting for???… grab your tickets and get “DEMONTIFIED”.
