Where did you watch this movie?

Set against the chaotic backdrop of Mahé, a coastal town in North Malabar, in 1954, just as the French are leaving the land after more than two centuries of rule, this evocative tale revolves around two families and how their lives change after decolonisation. Father Alphonso is a magician who is going through tough times. He and his family are in dire financial straits, and as things get worse, he must make a strong decision about whether to stay in his homeland, or immigrate to France. A practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine, Kumaran and his family also grapple with the same conundrum. The question remains, what will the decision be? Will difficult circumstance and poverty force them to leave the land they know and love?
