Embedded with charged emotions, this socio-political drama follows the trials and triumphs in the life of Justice Jagadesh Chandra Prasad (Akkineni Nageswara Rao). As an officer of the court he is committed and dedicated towards serving justice at all costs. As a consequence, he turns many enemies.
When he makes a judgement upon Balagam Brahmaji (Paruchuri Gopala Krishna), a powerful political leader, pronouncing his election to office to be invalid, the corrupt politician vows revenge. He traps Jagadesh Chandra Prasad's brother-in-law Balaram (Ranganath) in a murder case, falsifying evidence so cleverly that the judge is forced to pronounce the verdict of a death sentence.
This causes a rift between Jagadesh Chandra Prasad and his sister Kanaka Durga (Sumitra) who develops hatred for him and leaves his house.
25 years later, a handsome and sincere young man Satya Prasad / Satyam (Venkatesh) saves Jagadesh Chandra Prasad's wife Sujatha (Lakshmi) from thieves and takes shelter in their house.
Slowly, he gains the love and affection of the elderly couple to the extent that they decide to adopt him as their own. What is Satyam's true identity? Suddenly, when he is accused of murder and jailed by the police, Jagadesh Chandra Prasad can see history repeating itself. Is the young man really a criminal? Who will fight for him and come to his rescue? Does the judge still have it in him to stand up in defence of his adopted son against powerful foes of old?
