Bhaagamathie is a horror-thriller drama which engages you in many ways. The movie starts with portrayal of Jayaram as Eshwar prasad, a too clean politician but anyone who has seen Indian cinema for while can tell that he will be a wolf in a sheep cloth. But the strength of the film is that it will revel the obvious in an engaging way and have every body muttering "I thought soo". Anushka stars a Sanchala an IAS officer who is the former Secretory of Jayaram and serving time while awaiting trail in the case of shooting her lover Sakthi played by Unni Mukundhan to death with her personal weapon . She is been transferred to the Bhaagamthie bungalow to be interrogated illegally by the CBI joint director Vaishnavi done my Asha Sarath and once Sanchala has been transferred from prison to the Bhaagamthie bungalow what happens after that is purely Anushka's "Magic" which is been well advertised with Thamans RR. The story takes times to build up but ones it does it never let the tempo down . No wonder director Ashok patiently waited 4 years to make this film with Anushka , No other actress in current time could have done this role and made justice to it .
Like any horrer-thriller film it has many logic issues but Anushak's screen presence make that not an issue to talked about . The film makers could have avoided the 'un' funny comedy, there are places in the film where you will feel the chill in your spine but not one place where you can laugh . Jayaram could have been given more screen presence considering what good an actor he is. Asha Saraths character is not well conveyed you will have the 'NEENGA NALAVARA KETAVARA" moment when you think about it . Also, if you are a Hollywood movie junk you will definitely get waves from Gregory Hoblit's master piece Richard Gere starer "Primal Fear" towards the climax of the movie.
Over all this a well written script with enough twists and turns to the keep audience in connect with the story but Anushka is the one who carries the film all the way through and she was well aided by Thaman who's RR is excellent . You will feel down by this movie if you watch this flick with out a good sound system , Go watch it in theaters where you can experience good audio .
