Atuthaduthu (1984)

Embedded with quirky comedy and chanced emotion, this family drama delves into the close friendship between Ayyappan and Thankappan. The two men do everything together; they live next to each other, work next to each other, and even drink together. Their wives are also good friends. As time progresses, the two friends become successful in business and life in general. Thankappan has a son, Raju while Ayyappan has a daughter, Radha. As the children grow into a marriageable age, the idea emerges between the friends to turn their friendship into a relationship by getting their children married. However, Radha is in love with her instructor, Vishnu Mohan, who is very poetic and dreamy. Raju is also madly in love with one of his classmates. To add a twist to the tale, an astrologer predicts that unless Radha and Raju get married within a short span of time, great losses and conflicts would befall the friends. Will Radha and Raju succeed in convincing their parents to respect their wishes and allow them to marry according to their own choice? How will their children's decision impact the friendship, business partnership and general happiness of the inseparable friends? Will the almost brotherly love between Thankappan and Ayyappan survive through testing times?
