Attakkalasam (1983)

Embedded with fast-paced action and charged emotion, this family-oriented relationship drama depicts the twists and turns in the life of Balachandran, an honest and sincere police officer who lives very happily with his family. He has a wife Indu, three young children and a younger brother, Babu who is a medical student. In one of the cases Balachandran leads, he comes across a man who brutally murdered his wife and her lover, after catching them red-handed. When questioned as to why he chose to react with such extreme violence, the murderer presents his own justification and turns the question on Balachandran – if he were in the same situation, how would he react? When Babu returns home after completing his education, Balachandran encourages him to study further and apply for post-graduation. The relationship between Babu and Indu is close and casual. However, in a fateful twist, Babu comes home late one night, and under the influence of alcohol, attempts to rape Indu. She fights him off, but Balachandran witnesses the aftermath and jumps to the wrong conclusion that the both of them have been having a long-standing affair. Will he let suspicion, jealousy, resentment and seemingly justified indignation poison his relationship with Indu and destroy his family? How will the future unfold for all of them?
