This bold drama delves into deep social issues and centres around the struggles and sacrifices in the life of Lalitha, the eldest daughter of a pious and conservative Brahmin family. She has eight siblings and poverty rules supreme. When her father becomes unable to support the family, she decides to take up the family mantle and goes to work. Through her earnings, she ensures that all her siblings are given a good education and are married into happy and comfortable homes. However, despite sacrificing her own life for the sake of her family, she is deeply shamed and excommunicated by her family. Why?
