This Social melodrama highlights the plight of Chikan workers in the decaying Lucknow. Anjuman is a chikan worker who works to augment her extended family's income. Anjuman is courted by a phoney poet named Banke, while she is actually in love with her wealthy but weak neighbor Sajid. Anjuman demands fair treatment for the Chikan workers but receives increased pressure to marry Banke. During the wedding ceremony she rejects Banke which leads to his revenge by creating a riot among the Muslims. Anjuman decides to become a female labor activist and earns the admiration of Sajid.
