Polish film and theater director Andrzej Wajda had a career spanning for over 60 years. Andrzej hails from Warsaw, Poland and his contributions had earned him the Academy awards, the European Film awards and the Berlin Film Festival Awards. He had received the Honorary Oscar award during the year 2000 and Lifetime Achievement award during the year 1990. His Oscar-nominated movie The Promised Land was a work of multi-layered allegory and Symbolism. Wajda's witty depiction of the 19th century capitalism in Poland actually alluded to the contemporary Communist politics. Luis Buñuel was the director who had inspired him at the beginning of his career and his movie Katyn was nominated for the Oscar's for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year 2008, and had also received many other awards and nominations.
