Agni Shuddhi (1984)

This woman-centric social drama depicts the twists and turns in the life of Madhuri, a bold and talented young lawyer. Her father Mr Chowdhury is one of the leading public prosecutors in the state.

Madhuri falls in love with Arindam Roy and marries him, despite her father's disapproval. Many problems crop up in their marriage leading to conflict and separation. However, when Arindam Roy is arrested for fraud and a case is filed against him, Madhuri decides to defend her husband.

In order to prove Arindam's innocence and secure his freedom, Madhuri must defeat her greatest rival, who also happens to be her father. Can Madhuri succeed in defeating the prosecution by proving Arindam's innocence? Will Madhuri's father ever forgive her and accept her relationship with Arindam? Will Madhuri and Arindam make amends and give their marriage a second chance?
